Three-Day Mourning Declared in Dagestan

A three-day mourning period has been declared in Dagestan for June 24, 25, and 26. This was reported by the press service of the region's head, Sergey Melikov. During the mourning days, state flags will be lowered across the republic.

It is important to note that on June 23, armed militants attacked two Orthodox churches, a synagogue, and a traffic police checkpoint in Derbent and Makhachkala. Criminal cases have been initiated on the grounds of terrorism. According to recent reports, more than 15 police officers have fallen victim to the attacks, as well as several civilians, including a priest from the Russian Orthodox Church.

It is known that two of the militants in Makhachkala are the sons of the regional leader, and one is a cousin.
