Sanitation Workers to Receive New Uniforms – Summer and Winter Variants Will Be Available, Says Katvalyan
Last week, waste collection in Yerevan was conducted both at night and during the day using 38 vehicles. Street cleaning was carried out with 17 water trucks, 6 vacuum cleaners, as well as the operational use of 8 tractors. This was stated by Sasha Katvalyan, the director of the "Yerevan Waste Management and Sanitary Cleaning" organization, during a procedural meeting at the city hall.
"The cleaning of the capital's streets has been carried out by 306 sanitation workers on a 6-day schedule and in 2 shifts, which account for 89 percent of registered staff," he said.
City Mayor Tigran Avinyan inquired about the steps taken regarding the uniforms of sanitation workers. "The technical specifications are fully prepared; let's discuss how we will procure both summer and winter options and announce the competition accordingly. Financial resources have not been allocated, but I believe we can start without financial means, and then funding will follow," Katvalyan replied.
