Hardly Recognized: Vardan Petrosyan Reflects on Last Meeting with Lala Mnatsakanyan
Actor Vardan Petrosyan has reflected on the passing of Armenia's Honored Artist Lala Mnatsakanyan, sharing his thoughts about their last meeting in a Facebook post:
“Unexpected and heartbreaking news… Incredibly painful. Lala suddenly left us. The last time we met was at my latest performance at the theater. She came to congratulate me along with her husband, our dear artist friend Ashot Hambartsumyan. I had never seen Lala so broken. Never. I hardly recognized her. We embraced. She was in tears. She could hardly express her congratulations through the tears. She said, ‘Well done, you give me hope for survival. Do you think we will get back on our feet?’ I replied, ‘Of course.’ We also embraced Ashot. ‘How are you, what’s new?’… Then they left. That moment never left my mind. I had never seen her this shattered. When I heard the news, I remembered this moment… Her heart just couldn’t take it… It simply couldn’t withstand the loss… Safe travels, dear Lala… May God illuminate your soul. Ashot, my friend, patience to you… patience to the family, loved ones, friends, and all of us...”
