Netanyahu Discusses Demilitarization Plans for Gaza

Israel intends to implement the demilitarization of the Gaza enclave following the end of the armed conflict, and also expects assistance from Arab countries in the post-conflict settlement process. This was stated by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in an interview with Punchbowl News portal.

“I believe we need to achieve sustainable demilitarization, which Israel can implement only against any resurgent terrorist movement,” he said.

Netanyahu believes that a civilian administration should be established in Gaza to manage and distribute humanitarian aid. “This needs to be done, and I think the best way to do it would be through cooperation under Arab sponsorship and with the assistance of Arab states,” he emphasized.

The Israeli Prime Minister also believes that the enclave's population will need a process of “deactivation” in schools and mosques, which he explained as “teaching people about a different future, rather than plans for the destruction of Israel.”

“And, ultimately, reconstruction will be necessary, which I believe will largely fall on the shoulders of the international community,” he concluded.
