Reinforcement of the Historical Bridge in Shikahogh, Syunik Province

Within the framework of public-private partnership, reinforcement and renovation works are being carried out on the Shikahogh bridge in the Kapan community (of local significance). This was reported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MoESCS).

The development of the monument's scientific and project documentation and the reinforcement works are being carried out at the initiative and with the financial means of the public organization "Earth and Culture", in coordination with the MoESCS.

During the 5th meeting of the scientific-methodological council attached to the MoESCS, the sketch project for the reinforcement of the historical bridge was discussed and received a positive conclusion (author: restoration architect Levon Vasilyan).

In accordance with the established procedure, the authorized body has issued a permit for the reinforcements and renovations of the monument.

The bridge in the village of Shikahogh, built in the 19th century (1886), spans over the river of the same name. It is a single-span construction, with its facade walls and vaults made of rough-hewn basalt and river stones, and the edges of the vault are made of polished basalt.
