Georgia to Ban LGBTQ Propaganda Actions and Gender Transition Surgeries
In Georgia, following the implementation of the law on "Family Values and Protection of Minors," a ban will be placed on public gatherings and demonstrations advocating for gender transition, same-sex relationships, and incest. Moreover, gender reassignment surgeries and any medical manipulation related to the change of biological sex will be considered criminal offenses. This information has been reported by Sputnik Georgia.
The relevant amendments to the law on gatherings and demonstrations are part of a package of 18 bills derived from the new constitutional law on "Family Values and Protection of Minors," which will be discussed this week by the legal committee of the Georgian Parliament.
According to the changes, public gatherings aimed at promoting gender identities differing from an individual's biological sex, relationships based on sexual orientation between individuals of the same gender, or incest will be prohibited. The police will have the authority to demand the cessation of such actions, and if the demand is not met within 15 minutes, they may apply the measures prescribed by law.
Regarding gender transition, under the amendments, the execution of surgical operations or medical manipulations aimed at changing biological sex will be punishable by a fine or deprivation of the right to hold office or engage in activities for up to 3 years, or imprisonment for a period of 1 to 4 years.
