More than 2,750 Prisoners Convicted of Serious Crimes are Serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces

More than 2,750 individuals who have been released from prison are now serving in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to The Washington Post, among them are those convicted of serious crimes such as drug trafficking, theft, armed assault, murder, and other offenses.

An anonymous military official responsible for their recruitment expresses skepticism about the success of this practice, fearing potential desertion from these new recruits.

At the end of May, Ukraine announced that 775 convicted individuals had joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
