Cybercriminals Begin Attacks on Hamster Kombat Players
Cybercriminals have started targeting Russians who play the popular crypto game Hamster Kombat. The scammers access the victims' crypto wallets and siphon off cryptocurrencies from them. This was reported to Gazeta.Ru by Ivan Lebedev, head of phishing protection at F.A.C.C.T.
"More than 200 resources are exploiting the popularity of the Hamster Kombat Telegram application to access victims' crypto wallets. The 'Drainer' is a program designed to quickly transfer assets from the victims' crypto wallets to the attackers' wallets. Bonuses in the game can be withdrawn in crypto form," noted Lebedev.
According to him, the risk for players is that they may link their TON wallet to malicious applications through a phishing resource sent to them. In this way, scammers will have access to all transactions in the wallet, especially fund withdrawals. The expert added that an individual could also lose access to their Telegram account; Hamster Kombat players are prompted to log into their Telegram accounts to activate the bot, after which the user loses access to their account.
Hamster Kombat is played by over 150 million people on Telegram worldwide. Earlier reports indicated that playing Hamster Kombat could lead to psychiatric treatment or jail time.
