Tactical Ceasefire in Southern Gaza Does Not Mean Complete Cessation of Fighting: IDF
The introduction of a tactical ceasefire in the southern region of the Gaza Strip aims to improve the humanitarian situation and does not indicate a complete cessation of military operations in that area, including the city of Rafah. This clarification was issued by the Israel Defense Forces' (IDF) press service.
"The Israel Defense Forces clearly communicates that there is no cessation of military operations taking place in the south of the Gaza Strip, and operations in Rafah are ongoing. There are also no changes in the protocol for the import of goods into the Gaza Strip. The main route for freight transportation will remain open during the day, with agreements made with international organizations solely for the transfer of humanitarian aid," the statement read.
Earlier, the military press service had reported the introduction of a local tactical ceasefire in the southern part of the enclave. The army emphasized that this comes after additional discussions with the UN and international organizations.
