Let's See If He Is Ready to Do Anything to Prevent the Situation from Worsening. Peskov
The press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, believes that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should consider Russia's leader Vladimir Putin's peace proposal, as the military situation for Kyiv is deteriorating.
“Zelensky came to power under the banner of peace and with the intention of establishing peace and saving Ukraine. He has always said that he is not clinging to his chair and that he is ready to do anything for the sake of his homeland. Let's see if he is ready to do anything to prevent the situation from worsening later on,” Peskov said.
He emphasized that “every time Putin voices peace initiatives and attempts are made to move into a political-diplomatic track, certain conditions are present in the country, and each time these conditions worsen for Ukraine.”
“The current dynamics at the front clearly show us that in the future, the situation will also worsen for the Ukrainians. Perhaps a politician who prioritizes the interests of their homeland over their own and even their patrons would think about such a proposal. Let's see what happens,” the Kremlin representative added.
Peskov stressed that the proposal voiced during a meeting with the leadership of the Russian Foreign Ministry is “not an ultimatum; it is exactly a peace initiative made taking into account the existing realities in the country.”
