US Has Not Approved Strikes on Russian Territory with Its Weapons, Says Biden

The U.S. administration has not approved strikes on Russian territory using its weapons, and this stance remains unchanged. U.S. President Joe Biden made this statement during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, held in Apulia, southern Italy, on the sidelines of the G7 summit.

Biden was asked whether he would consider allowing strikes on Russian territory amidst concerns about escalating tensions. The American leader replied, "We have not changed our position on striking deeper into Russia with longer-range weapons." He added that U.S. weaponry could be used to strike along the Russia-Ukraine border, "to be able to destroy and counter what is coming from this border."

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed on May 31 that President Joe Biden had agreed to allow American strikes on Russian territory, specifying that this only pertains to strikes in areas close to Kharkiv.
