Putin Explains Why Russia and Ukraine Cannot Reconcile

The peoples of Russia and Ukraine would find a fair way to resolve any conflict, but the blatant political interference from the West hinders this process. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with the leadership of the Foreign Ministry.

He noted that the crisis with Ukraine is not a conflict between the two states. “If it were exactly that, then there is no doubt that Russians and Ukrainians, united by a common history and culture, spiritual values, and millions of familial and human connections, would find a fair means of resolving any issue,” said Putin.

However, the Russian leader believes that the roots of the conflict lie not in bilateral relations, but in the global and European developments that emerged in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. He mentioned that the West has been pursuing an aggressive and adventurous policy long before the special military operation began. Previously, Putin stated that Russia did not start a war in Ukraine within the framework of the special military operation. According to him, the West constantly blames Russia for initiating military actions in Ukraine and being an aggressor.
