No One is Waiting for Armenia and Ukraine in the EU, Medvedev Says

Western countries are not preparing to invite Armenia to the European Union (EU), and Ukraine will not reach that stage in the near future, according to Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia.

“The centuries-old friendship between the Russian and Armenian peoples, strengthened by allied relations within the framework of the CSTO and EAEU, has long become a thorn in the side of Washington and its allies. Significant forces have been deployed to pull the South Caucasian republic into the Euro-Atlantic camp,” Medvedev wrote in an article published in Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

He warned that the “golden mountains,” including EU membership, are offered to Yerevan in exchange for complete loyalty. “But do not deceive yourselves. Such promises are merely bait in a neocolonial trap. No one intends to open the doors of the 'elite club' to the Armenian people. Ask the neo-Banderites if they managed to join the EU. No, and they won’t see that happening anytime soon. And will they ever?” Medvedev suggested contemplating.

The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia cited Georgia’s law on foreign agents, which displease the US and the EU as an example. “And what? As a result, sanctions,” he reminded.

“The resolution adopted by the European Parliament in March 2024, aimed at strengthening the relations between the EU and Armenia, is in fact just a piece of ordinary paper, without any obligations,” Medvedev emphasized.
