Kocharian Comments on Recent Events on Baghramyan Avenue
Only a small part of special means was used on Baghramyan Avenue, as the police had refrained from using force until the last moment. This was stated by Andranik Kocharian, a member of the ‘Civil Contract’ faction, during a briefing in the National Assembly while addressing the events that took place on Baghramyan Avenue.
According to him, it was planned that there would be activities at 3 PM.
Kocharian noted that an emotional atmosphere had been created, leading to an uncontrollable clash that resulted in numerous injuries. He pointed out that yesterday, an attempt was made by Artsvik Minasyan to compare the clash to March 1.
“These are unacceptable comparisons because March 1 was entirely different. This was something else—conducting a breakthrough through police forces. We have seen what developments could arise from that breakthrough multiple times, and since it did not succeed, they moved toward the government, following Nikol Pashinyan. Had they managed to reach him, what would the outcome have been?” he questioned.
Kocharian acknowledged that there were indeed injuries. “But we did not have casualties because the security bloc acted clearly, and those who had other plans did not succeed in realizing them,” he said.
When asked what special means were used, which resulted in all the injuries, Kocharian responded by asserting that sound and light devices were employed to de-escalate the tension. When asked if such devices can cause injuries, he replied, “Yes, there can be injuries.”
