Armenian President, Earning Over 15 Million Drams Annually, Responds to Violence After One Day
The newspaper 'Zhoghvorud' reports: The President of Armenia, Vahagn Khachatryan, who has been in office for nearly two years, has rarely been heard during his presidency. On June 12, at the Baghramyan-Demirtchyan intersection, an attempt was made to 'disperse' the participants of the 'Tavush for the Homeland' movement by using an unacceptable type of grenade, including fragmentation grenades. Only one day later did the President’s voice emerge, and it was again not encouraging.
'The police had to use force. We warned them to avoid unnecessary tensions; do not commit violations against representatives of the authorities, but their behavior was otherwise. The organizers of today’s rally are operating under a different logic. They are not satisfied that the situation in the country is peaceful,' said Khachatryan.
The 'time-spending' President of Armenia received a salary of 15,794,000 drams from the Presidential Administration in the 12 months of 2023.
Vahagn Khachatryan has declared ownership of four real estate properties: two land plots, one garage, and one apartment in a multi-apartment building. Two of the land plots were inherited by him in 2017, one in the village of Dzoraghbyur in the Kotayk region and the other in the Arabkir administrative district.
The house and garage belonging to the President are located in the Central administrative district of Yerevan. He received these properties as a gift in 2002. The President has not declared any vehicles.
His bank account balances total 40 million drams and $1,200, while cash holdings amount to 1,200,000 drams and $18,000.
