Tons of Waste Create 'Disastrous' Risks in Gaza: BAPOR
As of Sunday, more than 330,000 tons of waste have accumulated in populated areas or near them in Gaza. This was reported by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees.
The waste poses a "catastrophic danger to the environment (and) health," stated BAPOR. "Children are digging through garbage every day." The UN agency also reiterated its call for a ceasefire, declaring it "extremely important for the restoration of humanitarian living conditions in the Palestinian enclave."
BAPOR's statement comes just a day after the UN emergency chief warned that over one million Palestinians could face starvation next month due to the war in Gaza and that the ceasefire proposal remains in place, with neither Israel nor Hamas publicly stating their commitment to the plan.
