Belarus Withdraws Its Ambassador from Armenia

Belarus is recalling its ambassador from Armenia for consultations. This was announced to reporters by the spokesperson for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anatoly Glaz, as reported by BELTA.

“We all see how complex the internal political situation is in Armenia today, and how quickly the confrontation is escalating within the country. Different people, of course, have varying responses to serious emotional stress. We can understand this. But we do not understand what Belarus has to do with it,” Glaz noted.

“Considering the developments in the situation, our ambassador will also arrive in Minsk from Yerevan in the near future,” Anatoly Glaz stated.

He emphasized that if someone in Armenia has decided to deflect attention from internal issues by presenting an external enemy, this is a very shortsighted position.

It is worth noting that today, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated in the National Assembly that he, nor any official representative of Armenia, will visit Belarus as long as President Alexander Lukashenko is in power. “One of the leaders of the CSTO has stated that he participated in the preparation of the 44-day war, encouraged it, and desired Armenia's defeat. After that, should I sit with the President of Belarus in the CSTO format to discuss issues? Don’t you speak of dignity and principles? Even though there is also a situation in the EAEU and CIS, I will be forced to, but I also want to state that I will never visit Belarus, and no official representative of Armenia will visit Belarus,” Pashinyan said.
