We Will Not Pass This War to Our Children: Zelensky
We will not pass this war to our children. This statement was made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a speech at the German Bundestag, as reported by the BILD newspaper.
At the time of the speech, 650 of the 733 members present in the hall were in attendance, while the absentees boycotted Zelensky's address.
“A fragmented Europe has never been peaceful, and a divided Germany has never been happy,” Zelensky said amid applause from the attendees. He added that this is why Germany's support for Ukraine is so strong.
“A year or two before the fall of the Berlin Wall, no one could have anticipated that it would collapse. Today, hardly anyone expects that Putin will vanish, but we will do it together. We will not pass this war to our children; we will end it. And we will end this war on our terms. Ukrainians deserve peace and an end to war that leaves no doubt about who has won. The time for compromises has passed. Everything ended the moment Russia started bombing our cities,” the Ukrainian president asserted.
He stated that Putin is “used to destruction.”
“Russia destroyed Aleppo, divided Moldova and Georgia, subdued Belarus, bombed Grozny turning it into ruins and ashes,” he concluded.
