Bagrat and the Opposition Plan to Bring People to the National Assembly, Hold Them for a Few Days, and Incite Clashes - Konjoryan
The parliamentary opposition knows very well that the draft message will not lead to any resignation. Bagrat knows this too. The only ones unaware are their supporters. Thus, they need to deceive them. This was stated by Hayk Konjoryan, the leader of the Civil Contract faction in the National Assembly of Armenia, on his Facebook page.
“Several interesting facts about the parliamentary opposition's current adventures and their actual plans: As you know, the parliamentary opposition, along with its colorful leader, has announced that it will hold a powerful session of the National Assembly and will demand the resignation of the government. After that strong threat, the opposition presented a proposal to convene a session based on the draft message, which has no legal binding force even if accepted. Thus, the opposition has deceived its followers into believing that any changes will occur during the discussion of this message.
According to the rules of procedure of the National Assembly, a session of the main committee was scheduled today, where the opposition was supposed to present the message they so desired, which the committee would then vote on. This was a crucial moment for the opposition. The committee session was convened, and just a few hours earlier, MPs were notified of the meeting's time (the notices are available).
According to the rules of procedure, a committee session can be held during the plenary sessions of the National Assembly, provided that the committee meeting does not coincide with the plenary session. The committee session began at 4:00 PM during the National Assembly's break. I repeat, everyone was notified of the session a few hours ago.
Now, pay attention. Just before the 4:00 PM break, while we were discussing the draft law on the police guard, no opposition MPs were present in the hall. Suddenly, just minutes before the break, Artsvik Minasyan unexpectedly enters the hall and registers to ask a question, and then to speak. At 4:00 PM, the committee session starts without Artsvik Minasyan, who is the main reporter of their pivotal message, a message that, according to their statements, will bring about the government's resignation and ‘save’ everyone from end to end.
And at that crucial moment, Artsvik Minasyan suddenly decides to return to the session hall, abandoning their intercontinental message and registering instead for a question and speech on another draft law. Agree, this is at least strange. But in reality, this little trick is supposed to serve as Artsvik Minasyan's alibi for not attending the committee meeting on the message. That is why he hurried back to the session hall all alone.
By 4:30 PM, during the session for announcements in the National Assembly, we declare that the opposition did not come to the committee meeting, sabotaging their so important message discussion, to which they invited us. Later, Artsvik Minasyan declares that he had an important question related to another draft law, which is why he did not attend the committee discussion. Then, speaking on Baghramyan Avenue, he misleads his supporters by claiming that they were unaware of the committee meeting and that the meeting was illegal.
I repeat, the session's time was announced several hours previously and, according to the rules of procedure, it is entirely legal, and Artsvik Minasyan knows this perfectly well.
Now, the most important question is: why is the opposition lying to its supporters and everyone else? The parliamentary opposition knows very well that the draft message will not lead to any resignation. Bagrat knows this too. The only ones unaware are their supporters. Thus, they need to deceive them.
Bagrat and the opposition plan the following for Sunday: they will bring people to the National Assembly, keep them for a few days, and incite clashes. But before that, the process must be heated up so that people have an emotional and legitimate reason to stay there for a few days and fight. To add drama, they must start a countdown: 96 hours.
Substantively, to heat up the situation, they must initiate a fake impeachment process, as they lack the votes for a real impeachment. The fake impeachment is the message.
But what went wrong in this story? The opposition did not expect that the National Assembly committee meeting would be scheduled today and thought it could still use the remaining time of 96 hours to inflate the bubble of fake impeachment. We scheduled the committee meeting today, catching the opposition off guard; had they attended the meeting, they would have been crushed in the argument arena, after which the ruling faction would have voted against.
In that case, the bubble would have burst today, as everyone would realize that the ruling party’s decision would be recorded against the vote. As a result, Bagrat & CO would not have been able to convince their followers that the MPs of the CP could be forced to come to the session on June 17 if they intensified the pressure and gathered more people. And now they can say, ‘They held a committee meeting without us, they were scared; therefore, let’s gather more tomorrow to pressure them and force them to come to the meeting.’ A meeting that will not happen.
This is the plan: to gather as many people as possible in front of the National Assembly through this farce, incite clashes, and create chaos. If they manage to seize power, then their diabolical plan from Armenia and non-Armenia will be realized. If they do not succeed, the opposition will save face, claiming that it initiated the resignation process, but the traitorous government did not join it. Bagrat will say that the brute police suppressed the will of the people. The opposition will return to the National Assembly and smartly retreat to their offices and participate in delegations. Bagrat will go to the monastery and bend over. Meanwhile, those who believed in this farce will be left empty-handed, disappointed, and deceived. This is the entirety of the luxury and misery of a month-long marathon of lies and deceit,” Konjoryan wrote.
Earlier, we reported that the permanent committee on state and legal issues of the National Assembly has postponed for up to two months the draft message on the “Need for Government Resignation and Formation of a New Government.”
