VIDEO: The Damage is Quite Significant: New Details from the Disaster Zone
The damage in the disaster zone is quite significant. This was stated by Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan in the National Assembly.
“Large groups have been involved in the disaster zone for work; I would like to specify that the Rescue Service has involved around 1,419 rescuers in the operations. Numerous construction companies, organizations, volunteers, and partners from other structures have also been engaged,” he said.
During the days of the disaster, 443 residents were evacuated, and there have been four fatalities. There are various damages in 11 sections of the M4 interstate road, five of which are much more severe, causing the road to be one-way accessible in many places, while the M6 road has suffered damage in 43 sections.
“However, it should be noted that both roads are now passable due to extensive work,” the minister added.
According to Sanosyan, 24 bridges have been damaged, 16 of which are not suitable for operation. There are serious damages in the water supply sector, with the Karkof and Akhtala power plants providing partial water supply, while Dilijan has a scheduled water delivery.
Nineteen gas pipelines have been damaged, affecting approximately 19,000 residents who had no gas; currently, there are only a few areas still without gas, involving about 30 residents.
In terms of electricity supply, there have been 56 different types of damages, leaving 17,000 people without light. Now there are very few people without electricity, mainly residents on the first floor of Karkof.
“Significant work is being done in terms of damage assessment; so far, 921 reports have been prepared, we have 843 damaged or collapsed buildings, and there are 150 vehicles that have either been damaged or submerged,” noted Gnel Sanosyan.
