New Housing Support Program for Displaced Persons from Artsakh to Launch, Says Deputy Prime Minister
The Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, Tigran Khachatryan, has addressed the support extended to those forcibly displaced from Artsakh. According to him, the total expenditure for resolving humanitarian and social issues amounts to approximately 39 billion drams, which, however, only covers part of the assistance provided. Khachatryan stated, "We can confirm that the government’s response regarding the social issues faced by our compatriots forcibly displaced from Artsakh has been swift and coordinated."
Khachatryan announced that a long-term housing support program for the displaced individuals from Artsakh will be launched soon. The beneficiaries will be those who intend to permanently settle in Armenia; a mandatory condition will be that all family members of the beneficiary must be citizens of Armenia.
The program will provide support in three main areas: purchasing a home, building a house, or repaying mortgages on homes purchased in the past. For purchasing a home or constructing a house, each individual will receive assistance of 3, 4, or 5 million drams.
Khachatryan did not rule out the possibility that starting from January 1, 2025, rental assistance may be halted for working-age individuals, with support increasingly directed towards children, the disabled, and pensioners.
