Nearly 200 Tourists Stuck in Airplane Cabin at Over 50 Degrees in Turkey
Nearly 200 German tourists were trapped in an airplane cabin under conditions exceeding 50 degrees Celsius in Turkey. This was reported by Bild.
According to the publication, a flight from Antalya to Münster operated by Mavi Gök Airlines was delayed on June 6 due to a malfunction in the airplane's air conditioning system. Consequently, 189 passengers, including children, were left in the cabin where the temperature exceeded 50 degrees.
The incident occurred on June 6, but details have only emerged now. “As soon as we sat down, we noticed that it was hot on the plane. The air conditioning had failed, and the airplane had been standing in the heat for almost an hour. The thermometer rose to an astonishing 52 degrees,” said one of the passengers, Dominik Janssen.
He noted that the most difficult situation was for the young children on board. “The children were crying louder and louder; everyone was in tears. The situation was very dangerous. Everyone was terrified for their children; there was panic among us,” he added.
One passenger, a Turkish-speaking doctor, alerted the crew, stating that the children were in real danger if the air conditioning did not work. The pilot initially moved toward the runway but later decided to turn back to the airport terminal. As a result, passengers were only able to take off four hours later.
