Investigation Underway into Incident on Shinararner Street
The Investigation Committee of Armenia is currently conducting an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the murder of a 43-year-old man and the attempted murder of a 35-year-old man that occurred on June 11 on Shinararner Street in Yerevan.
On June 11, 2024, at 23:17, the Operational Management Center of the Police of Armenia received a report from a citizen about gunshots being heard on Estonian Street. Subsequently, at 23:53, the Armenia Republican Medical Center reported that two individuals were admitted for treatment: a 35-year-old resident of Yerevan with a gunshot wound to the neck, and a 43-year-old resident with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and various parts of the body. Later, the medical center announced that the 43-year-old man succumbed to his injuries.
Following the incident, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 155, Part 2, Point 7, Article 44-155, Part 2, Point 7, and Article 335, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia.
An examination of the crime scene revealed several vehicles, including a LAND CRUISER, TOYOTA CAMRY, OPEL ASTRA, and TOYOTA COROLLA, parked in a collision course on Shinararner Street. The LAND CRUISER showed signs of damage from gunfire in both the front and rear sections, and traces of a blood-like substance were found inside the vehicle. Additionally, numerous shell casings of various calibers were discovered in the trunk area of the OPEL ASTRA and at the crime scene.
Urgent necessary measures are being taken, and investigative and procedural actions are underway to clarify all circumstances of the incident and to identify and locate any individuals possibly involved in the crime. Relevant expert assessments have been ordered, and police have been given appropriate directives.
Based on the current results of the pre-trial investigation, the Investigation Committee of Armenia will provide further information as it becomes available.
Notification: A person accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a final court decision as per the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia.
