Illegal Migrants in Russia to Be Banned from Marrying

The State Duma's profile committee has approved a law aimed at strengthening federal state control in the field of migration, particularly prohibiting illegal migrants from obtaining driver's licenses and marrying. This was reported by Interfax.

According to the draft law, an expulsion regime will be introduced. This regime will apply to foreigners residing illegally within the territory of the Russian Federation. The implementation of this regime implies certain limitations on the rights of those living illegally in Russia.

Such individuals will face restrictions on changing their place of residence, driving vehicles, entering into marriage, opening bank accounts, and acquiring or selling property and real estate. They will also be restricted from registering as individual entrepreneurs or opening legal entities. From their Russian accounts, they will be allowed to spend no more than 30,000 rubles per month or purchase tickets for travel to another country. Transferring these funds to other banks is also prohibited.

It is reported that the regime will be lifted in cases where a foreigner leaves Russia, regularizes their legal status, or cancels the decision to apply this regime.
