I Blame Myself for That: If I Had Conviced Myself, I Would Have Conviced You Too - Pashinyan

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, spoke about the negotiation process regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, stating: "I have asked myself this question – should we make this concession, or that one? Where will this process of concessions end? I have not been able to answer that question."

According to the Prime Minister, his greatest failure and mistake was not adequately presenting the real situation regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. "I blame myself for that. I should have come out and told the people or, at least, the National Assembly behind closed doors that we must agree on Nagorno-Karabakh being an autonomous region within Azerbaijan, with the understanding that it should be governed jointly, comprising both Armenian and Azerbaijani elements, and that our boundary for concessions should be 29.743 square kilometers. I say this, but I also parallelly tell myself that at that time, I couldn't bring myself to say such a thing; I couldn't convince myself. Moreover, I am sure that if I had convinced myself, I would have convinced you too. But the problem is that I couldn't persuade myself. And that is my biggest mistake and failure because, yes, a statesman should understand that all of this must be taken upon themselves," he stated.
