VIDEO: The Temporary Bridge Connecting Karkop Community to Alaverdi City Has Collapsed
This night, in the Lori region, the temporary pedestrian bridge connecting the Karkop community to Alaverdi city has collapsed. This was reported to Sputnik Armenia by the press service of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia.
It is noteworthy that the Debed River had overflowed again last night. Footage has surfaced online showing how the river swept away the bridge.
The ministry stated, "The temporary bridge connecting the Karkop community to Alaverdi has been destroyed due to flooding. We are now waiting for the river to calm down a bit so that we can remove the damaged bridge and install a new one.”
The temporary bridge was constructed after the floods on May 26 to secure the community's connection to the outside world.
It is recalled that as a result of the heavy rains on May 26, four people lost their lives due to the overflow of the Debed, Akhuryan, and Tashir rivers in the Lori and Tavush regions.
