Julya

The Ministry of Internal Affairs is proposing to mandate several organizations and entrepreneurs to secure the entrance and public areas of their buildings with surveillance systems that will be accessible to the police 24/7. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Arpine Sargsyan, during a session of the National Assembly, where she presented the package of draft laws related to the Police.

“The package aims to introduce new tools for ensuring public safety in line with the development of information technologies worldwide. The legislative initiative stipulates that several organizations and entrepreneurs, including pawnshops, credit organizations, banks, and businesses engaged in buying and selling, must have surveillance systems in the public areas of their organizations, which will be accessible to police and will allow for comprehensive monitoring around the clock based on various lawful objectives,” said Sargsyan.

According to the deputy minister, it is also proposed to equip the passenger cabins of ambulances and buses, as well as microbuses engaged in passenger transport, with surveillance systems. It is also planned to enhance network infrastructure in parking lots, which will facilitate situational awareness 24/7. “These organizations, listed in the legislative initiative, must have surveillance systems that meet the relevant parameters and be connected to the management center of the photo-video electronic systems that will be able to monitor this movement,” Sargsyan added.
