Video: Alen Simonyan Appeals to Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan

“I have great disrespect for those who seek a way out of the situation by sacrificing their neighbors,” said National Assembly President Alen Simonyan, addressing the movement led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan.

“Why wasn’t he taken away? Why did he organize a clash, incite it, and then say, ‘Two people hit me with their feet’? When the revolution was happening in 2018, Prime Minister Pashinyan, myself, and other members of our team were the first to take a step, climbing over barbed wire, trying to get to the National Assembly, rather than saying, ‘People, let’s move forward’ and throwing the people into the fire. They are outdated; their way of thinking is outdated,” he stated.

According to Simonyan, a revolution or change of power is almost impossible to carry out in Armenia. “There is a right to vote in the country; back in 2018, when this was happening, the right to vote was violated, and people could not change things through elections.”

He also mentioned that he does not refuse to meet with citizens. “When I am in town, I walk the streets every day, I visit regions and walk through the streets. Is there a problem meeting with me?” He added that he is even willing to meet with Canadian citizens: “There’s a format for that, no question.”

Simonyan called on Archbishop Bagrat: “I urge, I call upon the current opposition leader Bagrat Galstanyan: Discuss with Robert Kocharian and Serzh Sargsyan and do not disturb the peace of the people as much as possible.”
