No One Fears Them: Statement on U.S. Sanctions Made in Georgia
The Secretary General of the ruling "Georgian Dream" party and the Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, has described the U.S. sanctions as "insignificant" and stated that no one fears them. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
“No one is afraid of these sanctions... This is all not serious... For some, the restriction on traveling to a certain place is not really a problem. For me, this is not particularly important when it comes to my homeland,” Kaladze told reporters.
It is worth noting that the day before, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller announced that the U.S. is imposing visa restrictions on several dozen Georgian citizens due to the so-called "foreign agents" law. Miller stated that the sanctions will affect members of the parliamentary faction of "Georgian Dream", law enforcement officials, and private individuals. The measures concern two to three dozen individuals who will not be notified by Washington of the decision but will be prohibited from entering the United States.
