There Are Groups Working on Temporary Solutions, Says Sanosyan

The Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Gnel Sanosyan, today presented a summary of the works being carried out and completed to eliminate the consequences of the flood disaster in the affected areas during a press conference.

Sanosyan noted that active work continues in all directions, adding that the interstate M6 highway is now open for vehicle traffic, which is extremely significant in terms of saving time and connectivity. However, he urged drivers to be cautious as construction work continues in certain areas.

“As of yesterday, the Ayri train station has started operating, resulting in the import of twenty-two fuel wagons. Gasoline and diesel have been unloaded, and the wagons have returned to Georgia to bring the next batch of fuel in a few hours,” said Sanosyan.

According to him, many parts of Alaverdi have already been cleared of debris, mud, and water traces. Significant positive changes are noticeable in the Karkop community due to the active work in recent days. Water supply has been restored there, and partially, electricity supply as well. Currently, four pedestrian bridges are operating in the Alaverdi area, easing the worries of residents and the work of builders.

“Our focus is on ensuring connectivity with four settlements,” noted the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure. He stated that proper attention is also being paid to health issues, so that health and sanitation partners can correctly assess and monitor the sanitary and epidemiological situation.

“There are groups working on finding temporary solutions, while others are focused on project work,” Sanosyan added. He informed that one of the main directions is cleaning riverbeds and restoring retaining walls. “The level of the Debed River has significantly decreased, which presents many opportunities to solve numerous problems,” the minister concluded.
