India Aims to Become the Next China by Population

India Aims to Become the Next China by Population

India, the world's largest economy with the fastest growth rate, is not operating at full capacity. This poses a challenge for Narendra Modi, who was re-elected for a third consecutive five-year term as Prime Minister, despite not securing a clear majority of votes. The 73-year-old leader aims for the country's economy to reach $5 trillion by the end of the current decade.

His plans for implementing reforms have been complicated by the fact that his victory in the elections was weaker than expected, and he faces serious challenges ahead. One of the entrenched challenges on India’s path to becoming a superpower is the lack of job opportunities for hundreds of millions of citizens, especially women.

India has over 460 million working-age women, more than the entire population of the European Union, and they are more educated, ambitious, and healthier than any previous generation. However, their dreams clash with harsh realities.
