How Will Compensation Be Provided for Animals Affected by Infectious Diseases or Forced Culling: New Regulations

The government approved a new regulation on June 6 regarding compensation for animals that have died, been destroyed, or subjected to forced culling due to infectious diseases. This decision was made during today's government session.

The regulation outlines the conditions, cases, and procedures for the extermination or forced culling of animals. It also introduces a new infectious disease (emergent) phenomenon that may arise from genetic mutations of already known pathogens or through the invasion of a new geographical area or infection by unknown pathogens, leading to the death and destruction of agricultural animals.

This new framework aims to provide support that mitigates the damage incurred by farmers in such scenarios. The adoption of this project will enable an assessment and management of the risks associated with the potential penetration and spread of infectious diseases in the future.

As a result of this regulation, risk management for the penetration of common infectious diseases affecting animals and humans will be ensured. The measures included are designed to prevent outbreaks and spread, while also creating favorable conditions for the export and import of high-quality animal husbandry products and raw materials from a veterinary and sanitary perspective, thereby improving the economic performance indicators of the gross domestic product.
