Donbas Resident Arrested on Suspicion of Preparing Terrorist Attack in Paris

A young man from Donbas, who holds dual citizenship of Russia and Ukraine, has been arrested in France on suspicion of possible preparations for a terrorist attack. According to a source from the French Ministry of the Interior's Directorate for Internal Security, a 26-year-old man with serious facial burns was hospitalized following an explosion of a homemade explosive device he had assembled.

According to the JDD publication, following the arrest, police searched his hotel room near Charles de Gaulle International Airport and discovered explosive devices, including ammonium nitrate—a cheap explosive commonly utilized by terrorists. Investigators also found cash, several fake passports, and a firearm.

Preliminary information indicates that the suspect attempted to manufacture several explosive devices aimed at destroying French military equipment intended for supply to Ukraine. His modus operandi suggests that he acted alone, and the homemade nature of the explosive devices raises doubts about the potential effectiveness of the attack, French media report.
