We Will Consider the Requirements of Villagers for the Operation of the School Building in KIrants, Says Minister of Education and Science
Following the demarcation, the decision on the further operation of the new school building constructed in the village of Kirants, Tavush Province, Armenia, or the construction of another school, will be made taking into account the suggestions and demands of the residents of Kirants. This was announced by the Minister of Education and Science, Zhanna Andreasyan, during a presentation of the 2023 budget performance in the National Assembly.
It is noteworthy that the border line will pass directly next to the new school in Kirants. Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that if necessary, he would apologize to the residents and construct a new school in Kirants.
“We have an operational school in another building in Kirants. The new school building is located closer to the border, and we have indicated that we will follow the residents' suggestions and demands. We are ready to implement additional security measures for the operation of the new school. However, if after these additional safety measures the local residents still do not find it suitable to send their children to that school, we are prepared to build a new school, and the current building will serve another purpose,” stated Andreasyan.
It should be recalled that on April 19, the commissions on the demarcation of the Armenian and Azerbaijani borders agreed to start the demarcation from the Tavush Province. It was announced that the description of the border segments would be prepared taking into account the clarification of coordinates resulting from geodetic measurements in the area, which should be completed by May 15, 2024.
