Switzerland Summit May Open Doors for Russia-Ukraine Negotiations: Bloomberg
The summit on Ukraine set to take place in Switzerland in mid-June may open doors for future negotiations with Russia. This was reported by Bloomberg, citing a draft document.
According to the report, the aim of the so-called peace summit is to find ways to involve Russian officials in negotiations, based on the three points of a peace plan proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Although Russia will not participate in the summit, the draft document seen by Bloomberg states that all parties to the conflict should work towards ceasing hostilities. “Thus, we agreed to take concrete steps that can serve as confidence-building measures with the further involvement of representatives from the Russian Federation in these areas,” the draft states.
According to Bloomberg, before starting negotiations with Moscow, Zelensky plans to gain the support of Global South countries.
