Suspicious Substance Discovered in the Prayer Beads of a Visitor to Goris Penitentiary

On June 4, at approximately 16:50, a citizen identified as A.K. attempted to deliver personal prayer beads to detained individual T.K. during a brief visit at the Goris Penitentiary of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia. This was reported by the Penitentiary Service.

According to established procedures, the prayer beads were examined by penitentiary staff. As a result, they discovered a suspicious greenish, plant-based substance weighing 0.79 grams, resembling marijuana, hidden within a compartment of the prayer beads.

The discovered substance has been sent to the Goris investigative division of the Syunik regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee.

Notification: A person suspected or accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the established procedure by a court decision that has entered into legal force under the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
