Drone Management Training Programs to Appear in Russian Universities
Universities are already developing educational programs regarding the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the civilian sector, announced Minister of Education and Science Valery Falkov. These programs are planned to be integrated within the framework of a new model of education.
Training programs for the management of UAVs in civil specialties are being developed on the basis of 70 universities. This was stated by Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov while speaking at the government hour in the Federation Council. According to the minister, the country needs about 1 million specialists, ranging from UAV operators to engineer-programmers.
“This is a technology that is directly related to everything—from forest conservation and emergency monitoring to agriculture and scientific research. Therefore, the educational programs and the vast majority of specialists we train must have certain knowledge related to unmanned aerial vehicles,” said Falkov in response to Senator Artem Melashchenko’s question about the planned introduction of educational programs for the use of UAVs.
The minister also noted that the UAV application field is just an example of how new educational programs can be rapidly implemented and transformed. Falkov pointed out that previously it was generally difficult to change an educational program related to standards, but now it is possible to adjust programs annually to market demands.
“But at the same time, it is very important not to dismantle and assemble them anew but to have a core that would allow us to qualitatively shape the future specialist, while implementing all the subtle parameters through advanced courses with such mechanisms,” the minister added.
