New Methodology Based on China's Experience to Be Implemented in Armenian Universities
The Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport of Armenia, Arthur Martirosyan, today received Chen Lun, the Secretary General of the Central Asia International Coalition for Innovations in Education. This was reported by the ministry's press service.
Also present at the meeting was Armenian National Assembly MP Alexey Sandikov. Welcoming Chen Lun at the Ministry of Education, Martirosyan emphasized that China is one of Armenia's important partners, and the friendly relations between the two countries are mutually developing.
According to him, more and more young people in Armenia are learning Chinese and exploring the unique and rich culture of the ancient civilization of the Chinese people. In terms of strengthening educational and cultural ties between the two countries, Deputy Minister Martirosyan particularly highlighted the role of the Confucius Institute, noting that it successfully operates at Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov.
With the support of the Government of the People's Republic of China, the Armenia-China Friendship School also operates in Yerevan, where a large number of Armenian students study Chinese in depth.
During the meeting, the possibility of programmatic cooperation with the Chinese side was discussed to develop university-school dialogue, facilitating the training and retraining of specialists in pedagogy for teaching Chinese in Armenian universities. It was emphasized that by applying China's experience, it will be possible to develop educational programs and implement new methodologies and formats of teaching in Armenian universities, with retraining programs being targeted.
Chen Lun expressed gratitude for the warm reception and highlighted the great potential for cooperation with Armenia, especially in the field of education, and conveyed the Chinese side's readiness to deepen cooperation and carry out joint new initiatives.
In particular, the possibilities of implementing joint programs in the field of vocational education and training were discussed. According to Chen Lun, the Chinese side is interested in cooperating within the framework of the "Academic City" strategic initiative.
Deputy Minister Martirosyan welcomed the Chinese side's willingness, emphasizing that the "Academic City" is one of the largest projects of the Armenian government, aimed at significantly improving the conditions for organizing higher education, research, and scientific work. He stated that this government program also provides an opportunity for the expansion and further development of interstate universities.
In this context, the Deputy Minister referred to the state program for the development of education until 2030, which was approved last year as a strategic core document. Presenting the action plan planned in the field of higher education, Martirosyan noted the ambitious targets and specific actions aimed at achieving an internationally competitive educational system, as well as attracting foreign students.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
