Biden Discusses Pathway to Agreement in Gaza with Qatari Emir
US President Joe Biden has discussed the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas with Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. This was reported by the White House press service.
“They confirmed that the comprehensive ceasefire and the release of hostages agreement, which is currently being discussed, presents a specific roadmap for ending the crisis in Gaza. The President reaffirmed Israel's readiness to move forward on the conditions proposed to Hamas,” the statement said.
According to the White House, President Biden confirmed that the US would work together with Egypt and Qatar to ensure full implementation of the agreement's terms.
The US President urged the Qatari Emir to take “all necessary measures for Hamas to agree to the deal.” Biden stated that Hamas is “the only obstacle to a complete ceasefire and to providing aid to the people of Gaza.”
“The President thanked the Emir and his senior team for their tireless efforts to free all hostages held in Gaza and agreed to continue close coordination in the coming days,” the White House added.
