The Damage Caused by the Flood is Enormous: 'Veolia Water' on Water Supply Issues
'Veolia Water' has reported that the water supply issues in Dilijan that arose after the flooding of the Akhtala River are gradually being resolved. The team has significantly mitigated the consequences of pipe failures with alternative solutions. Specialists from the 'Dilijan' operational site have managed to eliminate failures in a 150 mm surface water pipeline, restoring water supply to seven apartment buildings and hotel complexes on Getapnyan and Kalinino streets, despite working under complex and hazardous conditions.
As a result of the flooding and the rising Akhtala River, the 500 mm pipeline outgoing from the 'Frolovo' water treatment plant and the 300 mm pipeline descending from the JMK to Dilijan remain suspended in the air, making any work near them impossible for now. To ensure that residents do not go without water, Veolia has decided to supply water to consumers on Gayi, Hovsepyan, 1st Streets, and the Tbilisi Highway through alternative routes, channeling water from the 'Bldan' and 'Golovino' water treatment plants.
Currently, water supply is still being carried out, albeit with disruptions to the schedule. The damage caused by the flooding is enormous, as is the volume of work; consequently, the Veolia team is working around the clock. Once the work is completed, the city's water supply will return to the established schedule.
