Tragic Accident on Yerevan-Gyumri Road: Crane Used to Retrieve Body

Today, June 1, a tragic traffic accident occurred in the Aragatsotn Province. This has been reported by shamshyan.com.
At around 6:30 AM, a 43-year-old resident of Aragatsotn, David Terteryan, while driving a Volvo truck, veered off the roadway at the 49 km mark of the Yerevan-Gyumri highway, in an area notoriously referred to as a "deadly" stretch, collided with several concrete barriers, displacing them and overturning his vehicle.

According to a photojournalist at the scene, the driver died on the spot. A criminal case has been initiated by the Aragatsotn regional investigative department regarding the accident. The site reports that the truck was loaded with tuff stone, which spilled out completely, and a special crane must be brought to the scene to retrieve the body.

This section of the road has frequently witnessed traffic accidents, including those involving passenger minibuses, some of which have been tragic. However, the completion of the new North-South road construction in this area has been delayed for several years.
