No Permanent Ceasefire in Gaza Until Hamas Potential is Destroyed, Netanyahu Says
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Saturday that there will be no permanent ceasefire in Gaza until Hamas's military and administrative potential is destroyed, according to Reuters.
"Israel's conditions regarding a ceasefire have not changed. The destruction of Hamas's military and administrative potential, the release of all hostages, and ensuring that Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israel," Netanyahu said.
"Israel will continue to insist that these conditions be met before establishing a permanent ceasefire. The notion that Israel would agree to a permanent ceasefire before these conditions are fulfilled has no basis," he added.
Earlier, U.S. President Joe Biden mentioned that Israel had proposed a three-phase deal for a ceasefire in Gaza in exchange for the release of hostages by Hamas.
