Deputy Minister of Education Calls Clergyman's Garment 'Miserable' and Insults It: Tovmas Arakelyan

The Deputy Minister of Education and Science referred to a clergyman's attire as 'miserable' during a conversation with reporters in Gyumri. Tovmas Arakelyan, the producer of the 'Ta Huyz' children's choir, stated, 'We had a contract with the Aznavour Foundation. We are supposed to perform in Gyumri, which was scheduled to start at 2 PM. Suddenly, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science calls and rudely states that we cannot perform, and the concert is at noon, so we have to be on stage in half an hour. I told them they are funded by the state budget and hold no power in this country. When I arrived at the venue, the demagogy continued. The responsible party from the Ministry of Education and Science called my clerical attire 'miserable.' I told him that you are rude and uncivilized since mocking a clergyman's clothing is barbarism,' Arakelyan noted.

It is worth mentioning that a concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Charles Aznavour was planned to take place at the Gyumri Theater Square at 2 PM today, during which the 'Ta Luyz' choir from Tavush, conducted by Maria Galstyan, was set to perform. The movement 'Tavush for the Homeland,' led by Bishop Bagrat, was also headed to Gyumri to attend the concert. The event was canceled at the demand of Deputy Minister of Education and Science Daniel Danielyan.
