Video: Protest at Republic Square as Archbishop Bagrat Approaches Citizen Dressed as Angel
A protest took place at Republic Square, where Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan approached a citizen dressed as an angel.
It is recalled that protests in Armenia began after it was announced on April 19 that Yerevan and Baku had agreed to start demarcation from the Tavush region. Discontented citizens regarding the Armenian-Azerbaijani border demarcation had been organizing protests for an extended period in the Tavush region.
Members and supporters of the 'Tavush for the Homeland' movement decided on May 4 to march to Yerevan from the village of Kiran. They reached the capital on May 9. On that day, a rally was held at Republic Square, where movement leader Archbishop Bagrat gave Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan an hour to resign, which did not happen. Following this, he called for peaceful acts of disobedience to begin across the republic starting May 10.
From the next day, participants and supporters started to block streets and roads, conducting informational campaigns to encourage citizens to join them.
