Video: Aircraft Engine Ignites During Takeoff at Chicago Airport
The engine of a United Airlines aircraft caught fire at Chicago's airport. The Airbus A320, which was bound for Seattle, had not yet taken off from the runway at the time of the ignition. After receiving information about the malfunction, its acceleration was halted, according to ABC 7.
Witnesses noticed black smoke as the Airbus 320 was preparing for takeoff. The aircraft was swiftly towed back to the terminal.
There were 148 passengers on board. Fortunately, no one was injured. A backup aircraft has been provided for them. The reasons for the fire have not been disclosed.
