VIDEO: Protests in Yerevan as Red Berets Detain Participants
Supporters of the 'Tavush for Homeland' movement blocked several streets early in the morning, both in Yerevan and in the regions. Concurrently, Red Berets began detaining participants of the disobedience actions. Among those detained is Igor Khachaturov, the son of the former Secretary-General of the CSTO, Yuri Khachaturov.
According to videos circulating on social media, the following roads are blocked:
- Yerevan-Asharak highway
- Yerevan-Aramvir highway
Police are attempting to clear the roads by removing participants of the protests and the trucks they used to block the paths. It should be noted that the situation is also tense in Yerevan. Bagrat the Bishop, leader of the 'Tavush for Homeland' movement, is actively involved in the street blockages; he intentionally registered an insurance accident at the Sayat Nova - Abovyan intersection, effectively blocking that section of the road.
The Red Berets are trying to detain the famous vehicle belonging to Bishop Bagrat, which he used to obstruct Abovyan Street.
Other blocked streets include Hin Yerevantsi Street, Teryan Street, Koryun Street, Freedom Square, Abovyan-Moscow intersection, and the Tigran the Great-Khanzhyan section.
