NATO to Establish Permanent Structure: Stoltenberg on Arms Supply to Ukraine
NATO will establish a permanent structure at the summit in Washington this July, which will organize mandatory arms supplies to Ukraine and fund them, although the amount has not yet been determined. This was announced by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during a speech at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
"Military supplies must again flow continuously to Ukraine; past delays and unfulfilled promises have had serious consequences. This is one of the reasons why I have proposed that we reaffirm NATO's larger role in coordinating and providing assistance and training to Ukrainian forces at the summit. We need a strong institutional structure. Temporary, short-term voluntary announcements of assistance are good, but in the long run, we need more predictable and comprehensive support for Ukraine," he emphasized.
According to Stoltenberg, the budget has not yet been agreed upon.
