Man Acts Violently at Friend's Child Baptism Under Influence of Alcohol, Returns with Firearm and Fires Shots

Investigations by the Kotayk Regional Investigative Department of the Republic of Armenia’s Investigative Committee have revealed several details regarding a 39-year-old man who committed hooliganism involving the use of a firearm during a celebration.

According to the Investigative Committee, the man was attending a party organized for the baptism of a friend’s child on May 21, 2024. Under the influence of alcohol, he exhibited inadequate and aggressive behavior, speaking in a rude and loud tone to provoke conflict with other guests.

After being reprimanded by his friend and asked to leave, the man displayed blatant disrespect for moral norms, engaging in a verbal confrontation with the friend and making offensive remarks toward one of the female guests, which included sexual insults directed at no one in particular.

Continuing his acts of hooliganism, the man left the venue to retrieve an illegally obtained pistol from his home, then returned to the party. He called out his friend and resumed the argument. During this time, he fired a shot into the air with the illegally possessed firearm, instilling fear among the party participants and deliberately grossly violating public order, demonstrating a blatant disregard for both legal and moral norms and the rules of coexistence.
