Soldier Ararat Aroyan Has Died During Military Exercises
On May 26, 2024, at 13:00, a report was received from the Armenian Ministry of Defense's N military unit indicating that around 11:00, during military exercises at the training ground, military equipment accidentally collided with a stationary Ural brand vehicle. As a result, soldier A. Aroyan, who was inside the vehicle at the time, sustained injuries to the forehead and was admitted to the garrison military hospital around 11:30. Unfortunately, he passed away at 13:40.
Following the incident, the Armenian Investigative Committee's Fifth Garrison Investigation Department initiated a criminal case under part 3 of Article 538 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (violating the rules of operating or maintaining a combat special or transport vehicle, causing medium severity harm to health or significant property damage through negligence, which has led to a person's death). The preliminary investigation has been assigned to a designated investigative group.
A forensic medical examination has been ordered, a site inspection has been conducted, and several eyewitnesses have been interrogated. Necessary and urgent investigative and procedural actions are being undertaken to clarify all circumstances of the incident, identify those responsible and culpable, and provide a legal assessment of their actions.
Note: A person accused of a crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia, by a legally binding court decision.
Previously, it was reported that on May 26, soldier Ararat Arami Aroyan from the Ministry of Defense's N military unit sustained life-threatening injuries under undisclosed circumstances.
