Gagik Surenyan Presents Detailed Weather Forecast for the Coming Days

In the coming days, heavy precipitation and river flooding are not expected in the republic. Gagik Surenyan, the deputy director of the Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center, stated this in an interview with Armenpress.

"Fortunately, the precipitation-rich cyclone has already begun to weaken. Although there were some rains in the Lori and Tavush regions, they are 4-5 times weaker than the rainfall observed the previous day. In the next five days, we do not expect active cyclonic activity; there will be some localized rainfall, but it will not significantly affect river flows. There is no likelihood of flooding in the rivers," said Gagik Surenyan.

Regarding air temperatures, the specialist informed the media that as of today, warm air currents are entering from the southwestern region, which will continue until May 31. The air temperature in the republic will rise by 4-6 degrees. In Lori, Tavush, and Syunik, temperatures are expected to increase by 8-10 degrees. Already on May 30 and 31, temperatures in Yerevan and the Ararat Valley will reach +30 degrees.

Speaking about the weather conditions recorded in May, Gagik Surenyan noted that May is usually considered the rainiest month of the year in Armenia. However, this year's last month of spring has surprised even meteorologists with its volume and intensity of precipitation. Of course, it was forecasted that May would be rainy and humid, but the cyclone manifested itself with precipitation intensity that is not typical for Armenia, large-scale hailstorms, and frequent thunderstorms.
